Honoring Morrisseau - THUNDERBIRD
As I mentioned elsewhere, I made a vow to dedicate my Metis artwork to my Grandmother and all Native women who were involuntarily assimilated by mainstream culture, and I began to learn from other Metis, Native American, and First Nation examples and Artists. I occasionally do pieces to honor the others I have learned from, and this Thunderbird is one such painting. It is not meant to look exactly like a Morrisseau. but is done with gratitude to him in my heart. A. Bouvette
